I got a chance to mess with Windows Photo Gallery tonight.  Kind of a quirky program.  Indeed, it locks the resolution on the crop no matter what size you choose.  Essentially, the sizes you can pick such as 5x7 and 4x6 don't affect the picture or number of pixels on each image.  It defeats the whole purpose of having the different sizes except to crop the correct ratio.  However, when you use the aforementioned email option I believe it drops the resolution to 72 dpi.  Crazy design.

Oh, I have had 0 problems with Vista so far.  It was a bit frustrating when it first came out waiting for drivers but that issue has been resolved.  It's much more stable than XP.
