Mossberg 500
« on: April 26, 2010, 09:51:45 AM »
We have several of these guns that we've used in AK for fishing and back up on other hunts. What I need to know is this:
Mossberg uses a wooden dowel for their limiting plug (very small one to boot) that looks to be approx 3/16-1/4 inches in diameter. Has some one here made their own from this type of material? I've field made some or other shotgun from "sticks" to limit the shells but those shotguns used 1/2 inch type of plugs.

Yep, just finished cutting and sizing a piece of doweling for the gun. Now my wife is a legal beagle!
No, all my other guns have those 1/2 inch plastic plugs, but I shoot semi-auto A-5s, the wife hates semi auto anything. If it's not a wheel gun, a bolt action or a pump it's not a gun according to her. hahahaha(she is a G. Gordon fan)

My buddy had to use a chunk of a carpenter's pencil one morning, after he forgot to limit the tube size from shooting clays........ Kept it in all season.
