Good lake to fish from bank?
« on: May 10, 2010, 01:19:49 PM »

Howdy,

So me and a buddy are looking to head out this coming Saturday to do some fishn'.  As the high mountain lakes aren't accessible yet due to snow level- we were wondering where we could go that is good for bank angling.

Some ones I have checked out in years past aren't the greatest for bank fishing due to reeds, etc.  Does anyone have any suggestions on where we could go if we were looking to fish for trout, have good bank access without always getting hung up in the reeds and that is not directly on a major road?  Like we would want to be out in the woods some you know....  :)

Thanks!

John

Oh, and a p.s.

What about rivers?  Are any open yet for trout fishing?  I guess I could check the regs but just wondering what the group knows as it is different for each river it seems like.  Looking forward to Steelhead opening on the Sky and elsewhere this summer but where can guys go who just want to fish rivers for trout?  Like with a little ultra light rod and a spinner...

Ah the Eastside!  Seems like there is more over there than some good hunting.  :)

My folks live in Spokane and my Dad (who I think is 80) still likes to go to Badger and Williams Lake for trout.  We've been there together a few times and gotten our limits.  They are both nice lakes.

I, however, live in Seattle.  Which is both good and bad.  :)  The Alpine Lakes over here are sweet, Pratt Lake comes to mind, but you have to wait till June / July to get up there.  I'm willing to drive but just not every weekend.  :)  We were hoping something 1.5 to 2.0 hours max from Seattle...

Thanks for answering and good fishing!

-jg
