Oh, I bet those hound hunters could chase a lot of bears off Weyerhaeuser ground and onto DNR with only 4 depredation permits.

Maybe they can start releasing all the captured bears from Tacoma and release them a few minutes ahead of you guys?

Mostly what I am trying to say is that in order for them to be allowed to have DP permits, they have to notify us of any sightings and any areas that are receiving damage.
After our season they will be allowed to have 4 permits. If they do not tell us of any damage areas, then they dont have a reason for the permits.
This is what the guy that is in charge of these hunts told me,...but you know how far you can trust them...

Effective, or not, they dont get any until after we are notified of damage and allowed to hunt,
then they get 4, yes, only 4, how effective is that ?

Chasing bears with dogs (even without killing) is honestly much more effective then boot hunting.

So their "sighting" was just a feeble attempt to comply with the agreement.
I am not argueing about effectiveness, only trying to explain why they told us about seeing a bear.
