Shed hunting in the Blues Mtns
« on: May 13, 2010, 11:58:45 PM »
Hey guys, im heading out to the blues mtns this weekend with family and friends for a little spring bear hunting and was planning on getting a little elk shed hunting in. I have never found an elk shed before and was hoping i could find some but i have never been in good area for them. I was hoping some of you could throw some tips out for me like the elevations they drop in, the country, anything helps!

they're real spread out this year. From low up to 5000' plus. The blues get picked over pretty good, it'll be real tough to find any areas without boot tracks. The bears should be out like crazy though.

have fun and let us know how you do!

Good luck.   I'd be more watchful of shrooms than sheds.

Thats so funny! The last time me and my friend went out shed hunting we thought we should have been bear hunting instead! From what we encountered the hillsides seem to be pretty much picked over/cleaned up. We saw 1 old elk shed that was too far and would have taken too much effort to go after than it was worth.....but we did see 7 bears that day alone and a couple looked purty large.

This was in the Oregon Blue's.
