Back to Alaska!
« on: August 31, 2010, 11:56:38 AM »
Just got done booking my 2nd trip.. Leave the 15th avoid the Perserverance. http://www.wildalaskacruises.com/sport-fishing-packages.htm

Owner invited me back to be a member of the crew and just go out for fun as a hunting buddy. I did not fill my black bear tag when I went out with him in May (bad bear season and the only bear that let me get close to shoot was rubbed bald!) and this time I get to go when they are in the streams feeding on fish. Also get to accompany him on a Brown Bear hunt and Sitka Deer all on Prince of Wales Island.. I am SOOOO stoked!

Wish me luck!

Gotta love Prince of Wales. I'm out in Metlikatla (small indian village)working. Which is outside of Ketchikan also, but not as good of place as Prince of Wales. Good luck.

I fished prince of whales island many times. But my understanding there not any brown bear on the island itself. There are however monster blacks though.

Well, principle hunt is for Sitka deer for my companions and Black Bear for me.. they said they are going to "try" for brown bear.. I did not think Prince of Wales is a brown bear destination either.. but considering our cabin is a floating 85ft 3000sq ft cruiser.. I think he will go to the known hot spots.. cant freaking wait!

Hunting anywhere in se alaska is great. I have relatives all around there. I just never have the time or the funds to get the tags. They all say come on up. They even have an old home stead property that they hunt brown bear from down by hyder. Good luck on your hunt.

I'm jealous!!! Looking forward to your report when you get back.

*Knock on wood*

I sure hope I get to see more bear than I did last time.. Spring was really tough up there this year. Still saw 5 big boars but only 1 big ugly old sow let me get within shooting range..

Prince of Wales is LEGENDARY though... Very optimistic.

I was out there two years ago for four days and seen over thirty black bears no big ones but alot. Here's are pictures of the ferry that you take out to the Island.
If it's smok'in it's cook'in. If it's black it's done.
