Just wondering if anyone did any good up there. We were in there and got into a lot of them but didn't bring any home. Awesome country but a very tough hunt.

I have heard of bulls coming out, but not one word from any spike unters, were there any

We had three bull tags and went 0/3. We were in them almost every day, but just wasn't able to put things together.    It seemed like every time we would locate a bull and go in after him as soon as we would get close they would just shut down and move away.  . I do have to agree with you that this is very tough terrian, but the rain didn't do us any favors IMO. We all 3 had some what of a shot oppertunity 1 guy got pinned as the bull turned and looked right at him 12 yrds away, my Dad and I both got winded at the last second. .
 I did hear of a 3 point, 4 point and a spike being taken from Cash Prairie. We spent most of our time in the wilderness and didn't even cut another boot track which was nice but the elk were few and far between.
 My hunting partner and I spent openning day up a Indian Creek meadows, all I can say is "OH MY GOSH" that place is nuts. There were hundreds on rubs in the meadow! We hiked in for 4 hrs up to Pear Lake the day before season. We did pass an outfitters camp on the way at the north point of the meadows. Every thing was great until the rains came.....We weren't ready for that. We hunted until the second day and pulled stakes, my tent flooded and my partners tent was leaking, my boots were wet and everything else was soaked.  . At that point we were not having fun anymore. We got back to base camp and went to the laundry mat to dry our stuff.
I was able to see some of the biggest bulls I've ever seen while hunting, 1 was 500 yrds behind base camp but just not enough light left (6x6 330ish). The others were a huge 6x6 340ish and a 6x7 310ish.
Probably the hardest elk hunting I've ever done but would do it again if drawn.

Had an awsome hunt up there.  Got into lots of bulls, got about half to work, passed a few shots, saw very few hunters and tagged this guy at 30 yards.

spent a weekend below Timberwolf mtn in the 356.
saw a few cows, 2 nice bulls (5x5 ,6x6) but no  branched (any) bull tag. Multi-season elk drawn and looking for a spike.
Had my chance at a dandy spike, partial velvet. ranged him at 40 yards, waited for a clear shot as he moved behind a ponderosa tree. he emerged on the other side, I settled the 40 yard pin low on the magic pocket and released.
The arrow went just below his sternum and stuck into the grassy ground. He stopped, looked at me for a second and thundered off down the hill. Upon re-ranging the shot on a fallen log in proximity of the spike, moving clear of the ponderosa the distance had increased to 47 yards. Replaying the shot, I should have known it took too long for the spike to come out on the other side of the pine tree. For a brief second before coming to full draw, I thought of re-ranging the beast but he was on the move and only stopped for that instant.
Darn, got the blood pumping in my veins though. Would have been nice to bag that spike as I was only 1/2 mile from my parked vehicle and hunting alone.

now just waiting for general modern elk season to begin after general deer season.

i spent the whole season up there had alot of action but they wouldnt come out for a shot...we seen a few spikes, some nice cows, and had alot of bugling bulls when the rain stopped...it was my 2nd year elk hunting and to get drawn for a bull was awesome and even with the rain it was a great hunt...

I drew the quality elk hunt for unit 356 (goose prairie). Modern rifle on September 20th-24th and out of 491 applicants I drew the only one! I shot a nice 6x6 on the 2nd day! Used my Mossback elk bugle and it was like seen on TV. It was the most epic 2 days of elk hunting ive ever been on!

My dad also shot a nice spike during the regular modern season.(and I do mean just a SPIKE!!!! It was a unicorn spike with a horn coming right out of the center forhead!) Getting that mounted for sure!! Will have pics soon!

It was a pretty good year! Saw elk everyday and I still have 6 points going into next year for the regular any bull tag. I saw a bull this weekend that is worth the wait!

Bethel Ridge/ goose prairie/ bumping area is some of the most rugged country known to man and elk! You better get your hiking boots on because there isnt many roads up there to drive around on!

Were you near cash prairie? Ive seen bulls like this there! Shot one there this year 6x6

I've got a nice bull in from Goose Prairie.  Archery kill I think it is a 6x6, probably 300+.  I havn't put a tape on him.

Ya its still good up there! Was up there last weekend and still had them bugeling back at me! Thats an addicting sound!
