Copalis Spring Bear

---Anybody have any pointers on this hunt. My Buddy at work drew this permit and I will be hunting with him but I have never hunted the unit.

Hunt it in the fall. :o

It is a tough unit to hunt in the spring. I was drawn for it last year and again this year. It is a pretty flat unit with lots of swamps and a ton of water. There is always active logging, brushpicking and salvage operations. I have been locked behind green dot gates twice in this unit. Once last spring and once this winter.

No camping areas Rick. But with the permit you will be able to stay overnight. Last year we took up a trailer for a couple 3 dayers and I slept in my truck for a few overnighters as well. Since they own the land and the park you would think that they would open it.

Good point billy, I didn't know they owned the park, do they ever open it anymore, I know there were problems with vandelism

Yea, I see it open in the summer. I have no idea how it works, if it is first come first served or what.

Nope. Only Rayonier lands in GMU 642, West of 101.

Promiseland is first come. Use to camp there back when I elk hunted there.  They have a sign posted by the bathroom. Stop at the gate and walk in and check.  I'm with Billy about spring hunting here.  Its thick.  Ihunted quite a bit it last year and never saw a bear. Found only one area with fresh peelings. Good luck guys think I will stick with the high country in the fall.
