As of last month, no. I must say i was disgusted by all the trash that has been dumped there, doubt they will ever fix it.

It was/is one helluva washout, no doubt. Not surprised about the trash....

Is there anyway to get west besides fr74? I know the gate at the end of pleasant valley road always seems closed. ( I think it's pv road? )

So the pv gate is still closed, and the 74 is still washed out. Little confused on the 7409 discussion in that other thread.

Is there access from the west side? Bald hill road, sorenson, seglin, weyerhauser truck rd? any of those have access? or do you have to go down to the 70 or 73 to get back farther? I used to go in on the 74, but haven't been back there since the washout.

I remember when the pv gate wasn't there, and all that new clear cut was happening. Not long after that is when the asphault part of the road washed out.

They put up that gate a long time ago to keep all the tweekers out from going up and cooking meth and dumping garbage. It is usually open during the rifle deer season, at least it was 2 years ago.

It's a shame that they have to lock up the woods because of somebody smoking rat pioson. Nothing is safe anymore

Per DNR and TPU the pleasant valley access point of fr74 will not be repaired. The NFS is working on repairing FR74 via the mineral access point on the East end of fr74 as well as the West end, which is accessible via the 7409. When I spoke with the NFS back in June they said the repair work had just been put up for bid and they expected work to start late summer. Contact the Randle district office of the GPNF for info;

I was up there mid week this past week, definitely no work going on yet. How does trash get on the other side (west) of the washout?

Used to be good deer hunting up there back when hound hunting was still being used to control the cougar population.  Good luck finding a doe now.  Between the cats and hair slip.  That side of the highway is not worth going into.  Well unless you know one of a couple honey holes.  Those require a little more work than most are willing to put in.

Dopers go up and walk over the washout and have a throw down and leave all their crap.  Maybe the state can start selling tweeker tags to generate funds.

I have seen the leftovers of meth labs up there, but not as many as in elbe hills. The whole meth thing is horrible. The trash just left in the woods, not to mention the lives it ruins... I was talking to a local guy a couple years ago not far from 74, and he said the cougars have devastated the deer population in that area.
