what an awesome day of hunting yesterday. we had snow, pouring rain, buckets of rain, sun shine, more snow and more buckets of rain. i knew it would be a great day when on the way in to my spot i seen a nice 2pt chasing a doe. then park at the y in the road only to see a 4pt chase a doe right past the truck in the truck headlights.
i hunted one group of jack pines all day (me and my cousin) and ended up seeing 7 bucks total. missed a 2x1 and ended up shooting him an hour later 500 yards on the other end of a group of jack pines. i had a shot at every single buck i seen but for one reason of another i couldnt make the shot. after getting my deer we put the effort into geting my cousin his first deer and he had a shot at a very big spike. an obvious older deer around 4 or 5 years over and about 180lbs. he had 12" spikes and looked like an elk
hopefully saturday we can fill a couple more tags with my parent and girlfriend. ive hunted his group of jack pines and have seen 33 bucks in 5 days between general season and late hunt this year.
the bucks are rutting pretty good, every single doe i seen had a buck right up her @$$ and every buck i seen was chasing a doe.
