Mt. St. Helens Preservation Society Needs Your Help!
« on: January 13, 2011, 10:42:51 AM »
I don't really want this thread to become centralized around the pro's and con's of feeding elk.  I just wanted to get this info out to folks that might be interested.

If I remember correctly you work with the tribes, you should ask them if you haven't allready. I'm not giving you a hard time, it's a good idea to ask everyone.  It's just they take so many elk in the winter grounds I thought they might want to help feed them while they are there killing.... sorry just had to say it.  Really I do think it's a good program and we all should help if we can.
“In common with”..... not so much!!

I do work with the tribes and I do send this out to them each year. I am not sure what level if any they contribute though.  However, the tribes haven't hunted this herd since the late 90's.  It is out of their ceded hunting areas.

Thanks for letting me know, I wasn't sure but assumed they hunted that area in the winter time.  I was under the impression they could hunt wherever they want, hopefully the elk get what they need. Not trying to hijack your thread.

Has it been that long since they were blasting elk from the hiway?
