.327 Federal?
anyone have any input on this round?

I shoot a .32 mag, and really enjoy it. My opinion on the .327 is it will be quite load because of the high pressure, like the .357, and the only gun I see suitable for it is the SP101. I use my SP101 .32 mag as a small game getter, mostly carry it when coyote hunting.

i saw cabelas has a revolver chambered in .327 federal on sale for $699 dollars. never heard of it.

then again i don't usually stay up to date on the latest greatest calibers, so......

It's simply a .32 mag at higher pressure stretched so it will not fit in a .32 mag. Think .38 special/357 mag.

My buddy has one. I think the model is a sp101, "i don't follow ruger guns much" so i think that's the right model. I have shot his twice on the range. I have never been a huge 32 fan. But i like his 327, 6rds if i remember right. Low recoil and it shot dang good! If you get one. I would be happy to ask him what the loads he is shooting. For me i will still take a 38spl over the 327. It is by far the best 32 cal out there

+ one other thing that was nice. Is that his 327 had adjustable windage to it. So he has it sighted in dead nuts! Most of the rugers that i have been around, are fixed sights.

Back in the day.. Most everyone I knew pulled the 283 and 327 out of their Camaro and put a 350 in!

327's are for sissy's that can't handle a 357mag.

Not certain but I think I remember ICEMAN had or was wanting one awhile back. He might have some info. I considered it before I bought my .357 but didn't go that route.

I know that Josh.. I guess the 327 just doesn't do anything for me since the 32H&R, 32-20 were already available (available in a Ruger single action even), and the 38spl can be fired from a 357mag. Sort of a reinvention of the wheel. I hated all the commercial hype for a personal defense gun with less recoil, but nearly duplicates the knockdown power of a 357mag. Which is BS. It has less recoil because it shoots a much lighter bullet and is barely the equivelent of a 9mm in a revolver. It's kinda like seeing a long bed Toyota SR5 of the 80's that said, '1 ton' on the tailgate. Uh... No.. Not for me.

I'm no big fan of the 338 Federal either.

Well this thread is worthwhile then. I found what I thought may be a screaming deal on a .327 Fed revolver but think I will pass for now.

I think the benefit of the new 327 is fitting 6rds where only 5 fit before...think J-frame.
Not a bad little cartridge, really.
I bet ammo isn't sitting at Walmart right now.

OK... I opened my eyes and did a little bit of reading.. With three computer/monitors on my desk and multitasking, I'm still workin too so you tax payers are getting your money's worth from me today. I guess it could be a nice little round in a 6" barrel. Anything shorter, and the velocities won't be there unless you burn a pretty fast powder and then the recoil is going to snap more. Still limited to some 100-115gn bullets. (If you can't tell, I'm not really a 9mm fan either) Light bullets, no matter how fast they're moving don't deliver the terminal energy on say a close and confronting Bear the way a heavier bullet from a 357.

The energy stats puts this one in between 38spl.. +p and a 357. So, recoil will be between the two in a given gun of the same weight. Does it equal the 357? NO! Especially because you can't get a heavier bullet for it.

5 shots.. 6 shots... 7? 7 shots from a revolver is cylinder timing nightmare. (Ruger GP100)

Sas has one and really likes it. For her frame size was key. She handles it well and packing it is easy for her. Still shooting factory rounds as we are needing brass. She has the SP101 stainless. Thinking about the laser grips for her, her shooting should be close.

Yeah, I was checking out the round after that old guy down in Vancouver (?) shot a threatening pitbull with his and it seemed to do the job nicely. cool round. I would love one....
