Yelp, I don't know if you noticed or not, but that wet stuff right by your hole is called WATER!!!!!!! :yike: :yike:  You have bigger you know whats than I do my friend.  That does look like a lot of fun if I wasn't worring about the ice breaking.  I went by there on my way to my daughters house a couple of weeks ago and there were quite a few people out there fishing.  You got some great eatin there.  John

That's just surface melt, there is ice underneath. Spring ice fishing back home is some of the best fishing all year. Nice job man, way to slay 'em

Man I'm used to the good ice in the north country back east. That stuff looks sketchy at best.  We used to fill 5 gallon buckets with those tasty little morsels. Do you eat the eggs?

John,

The water makes it look decieving. It was very safe but I do a lot of testing.  Ice was about 14-16" thick actually.

Jim..Fishing was awesome..

Jackelope..My friends eat the eggs.. but I think I would hurl!...LOL  The only eggs I eat are chicken ans I want to hurl cause I know what end those come from too!   :chuckle:

Actually that is quite thick.  I'm going to have to stop by there and catch some of those.  I love perch.  I didn't figure you would go out there if the ice wasn't safe.  I was just razzing ya. ;)  John

Yelp-
I wouldn't eat them either but my grandfather ate them like candy. I recall him cooking them but I don't recall how.
14" is good ice. We'd ride snowmobiles on that much ice.
