Our fly fishing club just had Pat Dorsey as a speaker this past month.  He said the first couple weeks of June were great.  He is an Orvis guide based out of Denver.

I would also agree with the first couple weeks of June.  I lived in the Vail area for a couple of years about 10 years ago and fly fished a ton.  My favorite spot is the Yampa River right where it tails out of Stagecoach resivoir near SteamBoat Springs.  #20-24 micies shrimp just kill the trout.  Lots of fish over 20" and my best on that river was a 28" monster!  I also fished the Eagle River quite a bit and most of the fishing I did was around the Gypsum/Eeagle/Edwards area.  Lots of public access.  One river you may want to shy away from is the Taylor river near Gunnison.  Lots of HUGE trout in that river but very over fished and the spookyest trout I have ever fished.  On a good day you may hook one and a great day you might actually land the fish.  Also, you may want to try the Frying Pan and the Roaring Fork near Aspen, both great rivers.  Keep in mind that in Colorado if you are on private property the landowner owns the bottom of the river.  You can drift sections of the river that are private but you can not anchor.  Some landowners are real pricks about it.

Yep, like the otheres said hit it hard in June, I grew up in Rifle and Carbondale and spent the first 18 years of my life fishing the areas. I spent alot of time on the Frying pan and the Roaring fork but the access now days is extremely difficult and those rivers get hit so hard im not sure I would waste my time on them. A few of my favorite "less" popular/known about rivers are the Crystal river near Marble, the Dolores river headwaters near Lizard Head Pass, and the San Miguel river near Telluride. Also the White River holds some monsters near Meeker/Redstone. All of the rivers Ive listed have good public access. Feel free to PM me if you have questions and ill do my best to help point you in a good direction.

AWESUME! I CAN'T WAIT!  Early June will be cleared of everything except fishing Colorado!   Nobody die cause I won't be there !...No weddings...no graduations, no new grandbabies!
Thanks everyone! :hello:
