Concerning body gripping traps 1137 and 1138
« on: February 23, 2011, 07:15:19 PM »
Did not make it out of committee and are "DEAD' for this legislative session.  Embrace cage traps or trap out of state.

These bills are held over until next year so are technically still alive but you are right, they are not going anywhere this year.
We can work on it this summer.
I'll know more about what the chances are for next year after the session is over.
There is a story to it all that I'm not sure I should post on a publicly read forum.

And by the by I wish you would not call this leghold trap legislation because that is not what the bill was about. It was about adoption of internationally accepted humane trap standards and the sale of fur from the same.

I believe it is a good thing it's stuck in committe as now we have some time to gain support. And all we really need is for people to call or e-mail their reps and tell them you are in support of this bill. But if they do not hear from us they will not support the bill, that simple. And with less than 300 members we need more than trappers support.
