Spike Euro mount (Deer)
« on: March 03, 2011, 09:14:58 PM »
This is a blacktail I had tagged on the late hunt in 2009. I have never tried to do any euro mounts before but I decided to try with this guy. All I did was stripped of as much as I could and then put the head up in a tree in my woods out back for about 4 months. I then took it down and boiled the head for about 30 minutes. It cleaned up very easy. I then bleached it overnight. It didn't turn out really white but it turned out pretty good. I bought and used the Euro kit from Cabelas. It came with everything including the mount for around $50.00 if I remember right.

That is a HUGE spike.  I thought it was an elk at first.  Nice job.

Yeah its definitely the bigest spike deer I have seen. That is why I decided to do this. It was a fun, inexpensive project.

Nice looking mount. Looks more like a little spike elk than a blackie.

There are spikes and then there are SPIKES on steriods.  Congrats on a great mount!   :IBCOOL:
