He also asked them about any problems with using AR-15s to hunt coyotes with. They did not seem to know and referred him to the State Patrol.
I did not know using a AR was in question?

I think that he asked about the AR15 issue to make sure that it was not going to change as well, since he was talking to them about changes to the hunting regulations. No sense buying them if they were not going to be good for coyote hunting. He also wrote for an AR magazine.
May you have a target rich environment!

I put out a decoy dog out several times this last year, worked great for road shooters, of course it was a montana decoy...

OK, I'll bite.  What's a "Montana Decoy"? Well, I did look it up and found a company by that name, so I suppose that's it.  A good, realistic decoy.

I was hoping for something a little more "interesting", like maybe a carcass strung up with some sticks and wire.  You never know about those Montanans.

The law states it is unlawful to hunt or pursue coyotes with dogs.  So, even as a decoy would be unlawful.  As far as hunting coyotes with an AR, it is legal.  Coyotes are unclassified, you can hunt them with a small game or big game license, and there is no restriction on firearms for coyotes.
