New Camera

Im hoping to buy a new camera soon that can zoom in farther/take a clearer picture than the one I have now. Right now I have a panasonic Lumix 12 megapixel. Its a nice little camera but I have missed some good picture opportunites. Any cheap suggestions ?

unfortunately, if you want to take good quality pics and want to "zoom" in, there are no cheap answers.  If you want to go DSLR, the Nikon D7000 is a good choice. (Cant speak for Canon as I dont shoot them)

For a all in one point and shoot with good zoom, this is what I bought my wife, http://www.digitalphotographywriter.com/2010/09/canon-powershot-sx30-is-review-35x.html  and it works well.

Whats the word on the new Nikon coolpix p500 been looking to upgrade myself. But still has to be tough enough and light enough to pack and hold up to the elements.

Canon point and shoots are much better than the Nikons and this is from a Nikon DSLR shooter.

Thanks, that looks like the kind of camera I want to upgrade to. Gonna have to wait a while but 430 bucks seems like a pretty good deal..
