stainless steel AR-15 magazines
«
on:

Anyone have a good source for 5,10, and 20 round straight AR-15 magazines? I used to go with C-products but since they appear to not exist anymore, I am looking for another source.
thanks
Greg

I have quite a few metal AR mags, including some C-products mags but once I got some of the polymer type mags, they are my preferred choice now. The Lancer L5 mags are the ones I have, and like them. Most of the AR guys I know use the Magpul polymer mags now. The top end Magpuls have a window so you can see how many rounds are in it. My Lancers are all clear smoke polymer. Either one is a good choice, and the Magpuls come in various capacities. Don't get the surplus "Military/Law Enforcement" plastic mags. They don't have metal feed lips. They're crap.

Not sure if they have what you are looking for but SportsMan's Guide, Cheaper Than Dirt, Able Ammo, Natchez Shooters Supplies are places I shop online and they all usually have good deals on AR mags. Except for 10rd mags I also use MagPul polymers and I really like them.

Unfortunatly, none of the listed sites have anything that matches what I need (and google has failed me). I can't use the polymer at this time because I took advantage of the extra overall length that the stainless steel c-products magazines allowed over the aluminum/plastic magazines
. And to add insult to injury it shoots really really well that way... With C-products aparently defunct or in transition to new ownership (not sure which it will end up being) I have not been able to find anyone who has those sizes from them in stock, nor any other manufacturer that makes something similar. everything I have found is either plastic, aluminum, or if stainless, not straight in the 20 round mags...
The moral of the story is to buy more mags than you think you need....

Are you using the straight ones to increase the overall length you're able to reload? Just curious because I'd like to get a longer OAL, but the 2.256" OAL is about as long as I can get in the Magpul P-Mags I have. If I could use those straight ones to get a little longer, then I'd certainly be interested, too. I'm guessing that you're using a standard mil-spec AR upper and not a special design? If so, what OAL are you able to use with those mags before running into feed problems?

The stainless is the primary reason that the OAL gets longer (thinner gauge metal required for same strength). the straight is because these have to fit in a custom project that I am looking at donig, part of which is modifying the magazines to allow for even longer cartridge overall length.
with the C-products mags, the absolute max OAL is ~2.304 compared to ~2.284 on my aluminum mags... that extra 20 thou is worth the trouble...
thanks for the site vmkeith, that looks promising!
