It's about time.
« on: June 19, 2011, 07:32:10 PM »
I drew My first ever elk permit. I got the Toutle Quality Elk Tag for Archery. I will be headed down to start scouting this coming weekend and any free time between now and the opening. Does anyone here know of good places to set up a camp.  I have never taken an elk yet so I have My hopes up that this year will be it. If anyone has some tips or info to help me succeed I would appreciate it. Thanks Robby

Expect most of the unit to be locked up during that time due to fire danger. You can camp on the state land just make sure you are on state land as Weyco. has posted some "no camping" signs. There is sliver lake state park and a little resort on silver lake that also has camping. Kid valley has a campground also but if you have not reserved a site by now, you most likey won't get one. The weyco land is better hunting IMPO but the state land holds a lot of elk too. I would get a tree farm map at drews gas station to get to know the road systems. If you need anymore info pm me.
If you want to make it,
you can't fake it,
you gotta live it.
