Hit the clearwater river this past couple of days
« on: June 17, 2011, 10:04:22 PM »
Fishing was spotty...boats were hammering them in places. The popular spots were doing well, but that's not my cup of tea to fish elbow to elbow on this river.. managed to hook up a few adults and took home several jacks...definitely alot of those this year!

Sweet. Looks like the river is still pretty big.

I have never fished there and probably never will in my life time but I always like to ask. How are you fishing for them? You can say if you like or don't. I am just a fishing slu* and always like to hear what works for diffrent people.

the river is in pretty good shape today...around 38,000 and cleared up by today..pretty dirty Tuesday and dropped 10,000cfs in the last 2 days.

I hooked all my fish bouncing eggs, yarn and corkie..one jack was hooked on a bobber and eggs....this fishery is predominately a bobber, jig and shrimp. I am not a bobber fisherman...just not for me..I love drifting the bottom.

:chuckle: See that's why I love to ask. I love to bobber fish and don't like bouncing eggs :chuckle: I hate loosing lead every few casts :chuckle: I also like to plunk sometimes, but for steelhead I bobber fish 90% of the time. Going to throw in some jig fishing/drifting this year to try that out. Not as many good places for that around here. Still going to try it and see what happens.

I agree. something about feeling the take. After that it's just a matter of reeling them in.
