When i lived in North Edmonds my property butted up to an undeveloped Snohomish county park. I had at least seven targets (bags and 3 D) in the park. Luckely, my neighbor was a bow hunter (he taught me) so all was cool with the set up. I know that some "cities" restrict the poundage to 35 with in city limits. Fortunately, we never had a problem.

.

The garage idea is intersting except it is filled with toys and projects that do not move quickly. The cars get the driveway.

Thanks for the ideas.
Sounds like your garage needs cleaning/organizing... :chuckle:, You only need a small lane to shoot into...
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

I've had garage setups in both marysville and Ellensburg. I was able to shoot out to 45 yards in both if I shot from across the street. I talked with the neighbors around me and everyone was cool with it. I was just careful to watch for traffic and little kids.

Its so nice to be able to step out into your driveway and shoot two or three times an evening. I know it helped me shooting 4 or 5 arrows at a time 3 times an evening vs. trying to shoot 30 or 40 arrows at a range to make it worth your time. Even if you can only get 15 or 20 yards out of it, the consistency of it will help you tremendously.

Not sure how many of you saw my videos of shooting in my back yard.  I live in the county, but in a residentacel community.   I have a dang near 45 degree angled back yard, and I use the hill as my back stop. That and the 7 foot tall plants block all view from my neighbors :IBCOOL:

I have shot in my backyard before with no complaints.  I live in a subdivision in Mukilteo.  I can squeeze 30 yards in from side to side with a fence and a rock wall as a backstop.

I also have a bonus shop off of my garage so I can actually shoot in doors at a distance of 13 to 14 yards.  This is long enough to practice and work on that "perfect" form.  I will go to the range in Kenmore 1x per week starting in July for longer range practice and the walk through range.

I live in a residential neighborhood and I used to shoot in my backyard. That is until I gave it a bit more thought. While I am very careful and just about always hit the target and had a fence as a backstop I always worried about my release malfunctioning or some other freak accident that would cause the arrow to fly over the fence and into a neighbor's yard. It never happened and I really don't think it would, but it always worried me so I now shoot in my garage. Not nearly as long a distance, but I know I won't skewer a neighbor kid.
