My new ( old ) pistol needs a little TLC
« on: June 27, 2011, 04:49:21 PM »
I just got home from my Grandmothers house in Colorado with a new pistol. My grandfather passed away a year ago and she has slowly been going through stuff and found a pistol that she never even knew he had. It's been in a old tin lunch box in a closet for at least the  last 20 -30 years. There are a couple spots that need to be cleaned up a little. Maybe a little rust and in a couple places the blueing ( sp?) are rubbed.  Any ideas on how to clean this up? Or just wipe it down with some oil and let it be?

It's a Colt Trooper .38 Special. Kind of a cool pistol. Need to try and learn a little more about this gun. I'm guessing it's a older model.

You have a PM.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist'.

Normally, if you have a gun and refurb it, the value goes down.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

:)clean it gently, oil it and leave it alone. that is a fine revolver, that quality cannot be bought now. You are a lucky man, shoot it some and remember your Grampa, light loads, and give it to your choice, relative.
