Salmon Fishing Neah Bay
« on: August 11, 2011, 02:21:55 PM »
I'll be heading out there this weekend with a buddy and our 5 & 7 year old boys and was curious if any of you had any tips on catching some salmon. We will try for Kings first then the others and if all else fails some bottomfish but it would be really cool to get the kids into a couple Kings. Any locations better then others ??

I haven't checked the regs so I don't know whats open right now, but silvers/pinks are usually thick out in the deep water (350-400ft) straight out from wadah island. Troll the shorelines in the morning/evening for kings, especially in shallow by the green buoy by wadah. For kings, run big spoons and plugs. For everything else, hoochies and flashers (green hoochies + green flashers or blue hoochies+ blue flashers). Tying up some pink gear like small pink squids behind a dodger could be really fun for the youngsters. Just a cut-plug herring fished alone at any depth will kill salmon of any species. good luck and thanks for taking a kid fishing
