another gun value
« on: August 28, 2011, 07:47:56 AM »
I bought a .454 casuall lever action a while back because it was 1 of those gotta haves. Now i'm thinking of selling it cuse I never shot it. It's a Puma model 92 manufactured by Rossi. I've looked it up in the blue book and have a ?  If I look under Puma model 92 I come up with $943  but if I look it up under rossi I come up with $547 both values being 100% condition.  It's stamped puma model 92 on the reciever and also stamped Rossi on the bottom of the receiver. But the box it came in Only said Puma.  How do I know which value to use. Not saying thats what im going to ask for it just dont want to rip myself off or anybody else. I paid $675.00 for it from a dealer. Thanks Allen

On a tangent, 100% guns are rare as hens teeth. If it has been fired it will be at best 95%. That said, you will know if it is over priced when nobody buys it and under if you get a bunch of I'll take its.

usually I'd say register on Gunbroker.com and search completed auctions.  That will give a very good idea of realistic value most of the time.  However, while there are lots of those rifles on there, only two are .454 Casull, both listed 97%+ or Exc. The higher one sold for $505, the one started at a penny with no reserve sold for $385 with 19 bids.  Around $500-550 seems about right.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
