manastash cow tag part 2
« on: August 23, 2011, 03:27:13 PM »
:dunno: last year I missed out on filling a cow tag that I had been putting in for 6 years.  so this year my hunting partner gets drawn for a cow tag that he has been waiting for 6 years.  the ol muzzy season is a joke but hey I'm a sucker for a hunt anytime any where  :bash:  we have scouted the manastash top to bottom and wonder  :dunno: tamarac springs, the old pig farm or or deep inside unknown canyon.  being wetsiders our dirt time is limited by more than fulltime employment.  last year was a heatwave for 10 days...and this year 7 days to get the elk steaks on the barby.  so high low or deep inside...what say you what see you?

I'd try the Manastash ridge country above Keenan Meadows, if you can access it.  Where is the old pig farm?

Try looking around buck meadows. Should be able to find  couple furry critters around there.

Anywhere from the first camp on hutchins road to tammarack.
Ive heard shadow creek holds alot that time of year.
I will be hunting that season too.  Last year archery we saw quite a few elk but never connected.  This year should be a slam dunk with the muzzy tag  :IBCOOL:

Your season should have plenty of action with other hunters. I hunt the modern and with all the roads being closed washed out or whatever there should be double the orange in the area. Specially the guys that don`t pay attention and roll in at midnight to discover a road closure. Puts them in bottom camp on the Robinson. I was up there last weekend and all the roads were washed out and there were no signs of any elk. :bdid: :chuckle:
