Looking for advice for a kids first deer...
« on: September 10, 2011, 07:16:40 PM »
My son just passed his hunters ed course last month and wants to get out hunting. We are going grouse hunting but he wants a deer. I was looking at the any deer youth/senior hunt in the northeast corner Oct.20-23.....the problem is that I have never been over there for ANYTHING....is it worth the drive? I dont have time or $$$ to scout over there so we would be going in completely blind. The deer numbers in the areas I hunt are not doing so well and the 3 point minimum limits the success rates. If it is worth the drive for him to possibly have a better chance at getting a deer......where is a good starting point? I am not looking for a honey hole just a good place to start.

Usk WA.  Look north up the river above the indian reservation and you will find a few decent roads to the east.
It's a TIKKA thing..., you may not understand.
