My Son's 1st deer. Thanks Wild Country Guide Service!
« on: October 18, 2011, 12:52:28 PM »
I would like to thank Garry and his family for the best hunt ever.  My Son Josiah was lucky enough to be selected for a youth doe hunt with WCGS.  As we pulled in to the drive way we saw 3 rooster pheasant and an hour before we showed up a few of the hunters from camp saw a moose on a ridge from camp.  We had not even set the tent up yet and started seeing deer all over the property (15-20) our hunt was to start in the morning.  Garry took my Son and I on a short walk and put us on 3 deer right away, Josiah had an open site 30-30 and was only able to stalk with in 200 yards well out of his range so no shot was taken. Jojo chose to use my 7mm mag so he could reach out a little further on the eve hunt.  Garry put us in a blind that night and after sitting for an hour deer started to pop up.  We watched four deer feed our way from 200 yards to 75 when I told Jojo to put the cross hairs on the big one a squeeze one off.  The hit was a little far back and she walked 20 yards up hill and laid down.  Something spooked her and she ran off another 200 yards.  We went back to camp and got Garry to help us find her. He gave her a couple hours to die in peace and took us to find her.  He was able to find the blood trail and had a good idea where she would be so had us wait till morn to go get her in case she was still alive.  After a sleepless night My Son and I plus a few (thanks Derrik, Gavin and Dave)  guys from camp went to look and sure enough she was right where Garry said she would be and my Son had his 1st deer.  I'm not sure who was happier my Son or me but I'll never forget seeing his hands on his first deer.  I can't wait to book my hunt with Wild country next year and sure I will have a chance at a world class whitetail.  I have never seen the quantity and quality of deer that they have on their land. Garry's game room is full of the biggest sheds and kills I've ever seen and they really know how to manage a herd.  From the moment we showed up we were made to feel as if we were family and learned so much from this hunt.  The food, people and stories are the best one could imagine.  Anyone who would like to kill a monster buck should book with these guys but do it soon as they book up fast.  They also offer other hunts but check out their web site for more info wildcountrygs@aol.com.  Again thank you to Garry his family and staff who made this hunt possible!  You guys are truly the best in the biz and this trip will never be forgotten.  Pics to follow

Your post didn't need to be made like this.  It served no purpose other than to put down a boys first deer because he was invited by the guide to come out and cull his herd.  If you don't have anything positive to contribute, don't type anything.
