duck hunting with a bow?
« on: November 04, 2011, 02:16:18 AM »
the other day, i was doing the pawn-shop crawl searching for some tools, and coincidently i saw an Alpine Archery Frontier, with sight, vibra-check, drop-away rest, and release for 200$... after buying arrows, field, broadheads, and judos plus having it tuned and sighted in, i didnt pay more than 260$... now, i know its not anything special, but being somebody who is just starting out, i saw it as an awesome beginners set up... ive been doing alot of shooting, and my groupings are getting pretty good..... being who i am, i love a challenge, and, im about to go duck hunting with my bow, but...

i would love some tips and pointers... ive read about the "snaro" tip, but have seen videos of guys using everything from broadheads to blunt points... what would you guys reccomend?

the other thing i was wondering..... how do you get your arrow back if you miss? do you sacrifice the arrow? whats the best way to ensure arrow recovery?

id love to hear what you guys have to say!

i dont know about tips but get flu-flu arrows, they wont fly very far and your arrows should float if you shoot it over water

flu flu's are the only way to go when bird hunting... I have tried it and love it... pheasant, grouse duck.... now I want to do the goose hunt over by moses lake... just archers.  I think it would be a blast!

I've seen a vidio of a goose hunt, and Fred Eichler has a couple of his TV shows where he as shot phesant... I think moving targets are gona be easier with a stick bow tho...  :twocents:
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

flu flu arrows huh? i will definatley have to look into those, yeah, i agree that  it would be easier to use a "stick" bow for moving targets, but ive seen ducks taken with a compound...

what i really wanna try is snow-goosin with a bow
catch it. kill it. cook it. eat it.
