Archery Late Hunt

The trick is to be a early riser, start waking up at 0400 and making coffee, watching the news, next thing you know she'll be sayin', " Why don't you go kill something, isn't it hunting season, or fishing season or something?" Works a charm, if not start getting real friendly at 0400 then it'll be "GTF out of here!"

I start getting on my woman's nerves and being a pain in the arse to her about the middle of August. That way when Hunting season comes around she is ready for me to go away.

Married 13 years and have two kids 2 and 4 years....My wife lets me hunt every year without any complaints.  This year alone I have spent 4 weeks away from home hunting.  She knew I hunted before we got married and she knows I will continue to hunt wether I'm married to her or not. 

They either suck it up and deal with it, or they get pissed yearly when hunting season comes around.

Great advice everyone. I'm sure I'll be fine. She knows I hunt every year, but the reason I bring it up is because I'm already starting to see she doesn't like me being gone so much.  I hope it goes well when I throw more responsibilities on like a child. Good luck to me when that time comes.

Why not spend a little extra $ and spring for a really nice camp (wall tent, wood stove, etc) and bring her (family) along? I plan on doing this when my family grows but that wont be for 5+ years from now.

I have 4 kids and I still hunt all I want.    Just make sure momma is happy and you pull your weight when its not hunting season.

Doing extra chores around home is well worth it when it comes time to go and momma is happy!  And if that doesnt work tell her you were thinking of skipping hunting this time to invite your mother over for a few days to stay with us!!!

I've been married to the mother of my three daughters for 25 years, and never once has she given me any static about hunting too much or I need to stay home and help out. The only thing she gives me a hard time about is tag stew. 
It's a give and take situation on both ends, she goes to the coast with her mom and sisters, I go hunting with the guys, no worries.

i think you all need to grow a pair and tell your ladies to suck it up, hunting comes only a couple times a year or just marry a girl like me she lets me go whenever and no she is not doin the milkman

Make no mistake about it. I'll be going hunting. Just not with my buddies I normally go with.

Yeah, whatever these guys say. It all boils down to "If Mama aint happy, no one is happy". I have been married long enough to know that, and so have some of these posters. I have some time off in late November and I plan on going down to the mountain and killing me a slick head to fill the freezer. I will look up the days that I'm going and PM you of you are interested. No pressure. Just sharing a campfire and dinner. Let me know and I will let you know.

My son will have 2 days of archery elk hunting.  I have a really nice place for him to give it a go.  I think he will have a 50% chance.

Ive been married 7 years and have a 5 and 1 year old. Never hunted before we got together and didnt till a few years after when her dad and my one of my friends finally talked me into hunting. She grew up listening to her mom nag her dad about hunting and she didn't want to be the same, so she understands and doesnt complain. I think the only thing is I wish is that I could take the little ones with me all the time but now my daughter has school and the boy is a little young to carry through the woods during late archery. But i think I am going to take them out thanksgiving week to enjoy the snow and sights
