Bear recipes - I hope alot of us will be needing them!!
« on: July 10, 2010, 08:42:07 AM »
With bear season coming fast we are going to be needing some good bear recipes. I plan on getting some bear bacon and bear sausage made. The left over steak and roasts I have no idea how to prepare.

Anyone have some recipes to help us bear virgins out? Rasbo, leave that one alone

I like crock pot roasts and home made sausage.
There are many recipes in the Recipe forum.

We cook our roasts "low and slow" lots of seasonings. The rest is made into Polish sausage. Bear polish sausage doesn't last long around our house. In my opinion, bear makes the VERY best polish sausage that you will ever eat. Tastes so good it'll make your tongue slap your brains out!!

Beer Bear:

Take a roast and rub it with pepper and johnnys and brown it real well in a heavy skillet (cast iron preferably) with some olive oil.  Near the end, throw in some onions, garlic and cooked bacon bits.  When onions are translucent, transfer the whole mess to the crockpot and dump in a 1-2 bottles of Guinness Stout, depending on how big it is.  Cook until Tender.  Serve with cooked or mashed taters.
Look man, some times you just gotta roll the dice

It tastes like bear :chuckle: It can be good and it can be nasty. The big spring bear I shot this year has been very tasty. Some of the fall bears are nasty because of there diets
