VORTEX Crossfire.........
« on: November 26, 2011, 09:44:22 PM »
So I purchased a Vortex Crossfire a few months ago for my R-15. After lots of hunting and shooting I was out on Thanksgiving morning first thing after calling for about 10 minutes boom dead coyote, it was early so the illuminated reticle really helped out. Went out and did some more calling with no luck. At the end of our last stand my brother in-law and I have a rock we like to shoot at. The rock is close to 1000 yards. We shoot just for fun because, lets face it .223 at 1000 in wind is a pipe dream. After about 5 shots I found my scope reticle to be a x instead of a +  :bash: . I just told myself don't worry it's a Vortex and they have a awesome warranty. I got home and called Vortex they said no big deal they were going to send me a shipping label to send it back. I asked about turn around time and he said about 10 days. I asked if I could just take it into where I purchased it. He said if they are willing that would not be a problem. I called Wholesale Sports where I purchased it after some questions they said just bring it in. I went in and the guy I spoke to was not there but, they still took care of me and gave me a new Crossfire. I was so excited that things went so easy I did not even take the new scope out of the box. I got home ready to mount it so i could get out and sight it in. I pull the new scope out of the box guess what X not a + :bash:. I could not find my receipt and was told I could not return it I could only warranty it. At this point I was a little upset I was going to be stuck with this scope. Don't get me wrong I love this scope when it was working. Then my brother-inlaw told me about a little store in Union Gap called Hammers. These guys are awesome. I walked in and told them I have a screwed up Vortex. Before I could even tell the story they had a new Crossfire in my hand. Then I asked if I could maybe upgrade. They said no problem they gave me full credit for my Crossfire and I purchased a new Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50. They did not ask nor did they care where I purchased the Crossfire they were just willing to help me out. Their customer service is second to none. I know where I will be spending my money from now on Hammers Outdoor World in Union Gap.
"One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted..If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job." Call Mike "Oatmeal" and he'll likely become your blood brother.
