Okay I've shot 2 deer with my muzzy and 4 elk now. In Idaho we have to use pure lead bullets (dumb!!!) I don't know the reasoning behind but that is the law they passed several years ago.
So I did some research and it was either round ball, buffalo bullet or power belts that fit the bill. I picked up some 348 grain hollow points pure lead. I've shot 4 animals with it now and finally this weekend I had my first non pass thru. Finally get to see what a bullet looks like after being shot.
Attached are some pics. WAY cool if you ask me. This was 26 yards at a huge cow. Hit ribs going in and going out and recovered it just under the skin on the opposite side. Even still had the plastic backing attached which they say comes off down range, must be farther then 26 yards before it comes off.
It weighed 260 grains. Only lost 88 grains.
Anyways I have no complaints on these things. All my shots have been on elk 50 yards, 88 yards and 26 yards. And the deer was 41 yards. I watched all the animals fall after getting shot. The first two elk I shot were right through the middle of the shoulder, this elk I shot just behind it. Was surprised to find this bullet.
Just thought I'd share as I've seen some bad reports on these.
