Gmu 251 "mission" late muzzleloader tag?
« on: December 29, 2011, 09:00:48 PM »
I have been acquiring points now for quite a few years and am looking for a good quality, low profile, late mule deer hunt. Any input, info, and/or pics of this late hunt would be appreciated. Thanks.

I wouldn't expect to many pics when asking about a "low profile hunt". Lots of guys keep that kinda of stuff quiet. I assume it could be a great tag thou

Actually asking on a hunting forum not msnbc news. I'm judging from the number of tags available and have a little familiarity with the alpine area so I was assuming it is a good pick. Just wanted to get an educated opinion from some folks who have actually done the hunt. Thanks.

sanjuan...guys here do hold many of these hunts close to thier vest, as alot of us have seen a dramatic increase in hunters in our favorite haunts, even from just posting pictures. Hang around and read a bunch, post more info and I bet you will get a better idea and be able to private email some guys about the specifics of a hunt you are interested in...  Welcome to the site.

I have never hunted it in the late season but I used to archery hunt it, there are some really nice bucks up there in september that seem to disapear before the rifle season, so I would imagine you could kill a dandy with that tag.

You should probably educate yourself with the harvest reports. I wouldnt exactly say it is a low profile area.

Its a tough hunt, steep country and if the migration happens early you need to have access through private secured which can be tough unless you know someone.
