Looking for archery hunting partner or group near Bellingham
« on: November 13, 2018, 01:20:35 AM »
have been hunting Washington state with little success for about 5-6 years now. I put the time in scouting, setting trail cams and do my research but have at this point only harvested one doe. I grew up hunting in Illinois but as you can imagine the country is very different and blackmail and elk are very different from whitetail. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to hunt with someone or a group that has experience hunting big game in western Washington, especially around Bellingham GMUs 407 and 448.

Ben I would be scouting now. Drive roads look for sign, ride or walk past gates.

The 407 has a great late season.  Read Byod Iversons Blacktail Trophy Tactics 2.
Silver Arrow Bowmen is a great club in Mount Vernon. We have a bunch of members from B ham. We have a thread on here. Classifieds, charities and organizations, Silver Arrow Bowmen... we also have a FB page.

Mature blacktail often go nocturnal after the earlie season. I've shot several deer but no really nice ones.

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Nothing to do with your post or to help you really, but a little history lesson if nothing else to bump your request to the top.   I knew of it, maybe even jaded about it as a local, but back in the day in the Methow there was a camp near Pearrygin Lake that was known as Little Bellingham.   A whole group of families from Bellingham would show up to hunt the lower Ramsey and Sullivan lake area.   Id forgotten about it, but a member on here was telling me a story about how it was "founded" so to speak, as we reminisced about the old days.

Would be great if a group like this existed in Whatcom County.  Seems like a good group!

I am scouting now, I'm looking for someone to scout and hunt with as a team that has more experience than I do.

There is a new archery club, Ferndale Archery Club, might be a good way to meet more locals.  They now run the shooting course at Intalco.  Check them out on FB.
