Any Cowlitz Co. trappers???
« on: February 20, 2012, 01:07:11 PM »
While combing the hillsides this weekend for sheds I came across this small deep draw in some reprod that the beavers have just got tore up.  I've never seen anything like it, I've seen beaver dams and such before but they built three dams and have trails going up all over the hillsides, and slides on the banks, and trees down everywhere old and new, the damage is crazy.  Don't find to many spots like this on Weco lands to often.  Anyways, thought maybe I could help a fellow trapper out on a good location.  Pm me.
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

I figured if nobody local on here is interested in doing a set up on these beavers then I may give it a try.  I see the season runs tell the 31st of march so I called Olympia yesterday to try and recieve the at home study packet to obtain a Wa trappers license but had a run in with a automated system and left a message.  What I'm wondering is realistically do I have enough time to get this done and finished and have time to try and trap one of these guys by the deadline.  I see I'd have to study the packet and still do the test, but dont know how long this process takes.  Any advice from seasoned trappers is welcome, may just be something ill have to do for next season, idk.  Also I have a small-game license, but don't see anything where its says I could just go take a beaver, my guess is they can only be trapped?  Still open if anybody wants to go set up here, if anybody is interested.

I also know where there are lots of beaver, and would gladly point someone interested in the right direction. I had a trappers license back in the late 70's and sold my furs to the hudson bay fur company in seattle. I would be interested in what it takes to get a licsense now as my 14 year old boy is interested in this also!!! :fishin:
