Blown plug

Now I know where those randon spark plugs come from that you see in the road. The coyote hunt ended shortly yesterday when my Triton V10 blew a plug which also broke the COP. I haven't had time to check the threads on the head yet. Has anyone had this happen?

My truck tool boxes runnith over already, now I'm going to need to add a plug, boot and COP.

Had it happen on an old 1976 4 cylinder Firberform boat about 15-20 years ago.  It blew the cermaic core right out of the threaded body.  the core was still dangling on the end of the plug wire.

Easy out to the threaded body, added new plug, and we were back in business.  But it sounded like a Model T in the mean time.

Add a spark plug repair insert and reamer/threader to your list and your set....
Insert reamer/threader, insert, (after blowing out cylinder of any possible debris that makes it past the greased up reamer), install insert with locktite and TORQUE spark plug to correct spec for your year, replace coil and viola your done.
Any chance you had the plugs replaced recently? They are known to blow out, but i see quite a few that fail after replacment dur to improper installation (see torque specs..).
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

The last time the plugs were changed I had it done. It was several thousand miles ago. I probably should have done them myself for peace of mind, but it might not have made a difference.

Spend a couple minutes on google and you'll find that it's a problem with the 5.4 V8s and the V10s. Spark plugs blow out and take the threads with them.

Modular engines used in Ford trucks tend to have this issue; two buddies have the same thing with the 5.4. The last one in February was repaired for 3K.  :twocents:
