The september 8-21 were the best dates we have had,I wish wdfw would just lock down the dates and leave it. We used to have fire closure issues with the old October 1st archery season as well.

Early archery elk season starts the day after labor day ALWAYS, til they change.    This is whey earlier for the next couple years.  It was my understanding that they wanted fewer archers in the woods the same time as the labor day campers.

It's what who wanted?  The archers of the state wanted that changed.

If they did that, Some years we wouldn't have two weekends. I'm not down with that at all, personally.

Everyone but archers actually.  We had the 1-14 and hikers/campers complained.  Then 8-21 and other hunting groups complained.  So WDFW's answer was a floating season that starts the day after labor day.

So that means in two years it should start on the 8th, but will it be extended on the tail end or will it be shorten because of the floating holiday? Seems like we are being pinched every other year……

I believe it's 13 days every year from now on. That is, until they make it 12.

It also ends on the second sunday so that would be the 20th that year.  We will always have the same days beings how labor day is always on a Monday

I think it is ridiculous that it floats like this, it should be the 8th to the 21st or so and then just leave it alone!!!

:yeah: i agree
as much as i like hunting the end of september for bulls, you cant deny the fact that the 1st of september is some darn good hunting, bulls still come to calls, sometimes better just silent!

My goal is still to kill a bull on september 12th, my birthday, but i still havent connected. Had one at 60 yards 3 years ago but couldnt seal the deal. I want my birthday bull!

My wifes Bday and buddies wife is the same day(september 5th).  If it starts before then, its going to be a costly hunt.  I will have to start sleeping in the dog house in July that year!
