Good deal on Vortex Diamondback Binos
« on: June 13, 2008, 11:09:30 AM »
I ordered an 8x42 Monday night and received them today. You can get them from www.cameralandny.com for $129. This is a special price and these are supposed to have "slight color imperfections," but I really can't see anything wrong with the ones I received. The regular price for these is $199 and they are also available in a 10x42 model. From the reviews I have read on 24hourcampfire.com, these are supposed to be as good as many binoculars costing 2 to 3 times as much. For the price you really can't go wrong, even if you already have a good binocular it doesn't hurt to have an extra. I actually purchased these for my dad for father's day, so I haven't looked through them yet, and won't until after he does on Sunday, but from the reviews I've read I'm sure they're going to be awesome for the price. Probably will be better than my Pentax 8x42's. I might just have to borrow them from my dad once in a while.   :chuckle:  Take a look at them here:

What made you choose the 8s over the 10s?

Just ordered a pair of 8x42s with the bino-harness for 149.00 shipped priority to WA.  Not a bad deal at all...

I ordered a set not long ago to check out and compare. A decent set of glass at their price point.... but to my eyes the much cheaper Leupold Yosemite 6x30 tops it. IMHO the Yosemite is THE best bargain on binoculars hands down.
