Glad I found this post. I'm searching for a similar step up but haven't decided yet. I have a Dwight Schuh pack now, which is versatile, but the external frame rubs the shoulders when carrying lots of weight(meat). Does the Wilderness pack come with a spot for a hydration bladder?

Yes it comes with a pocket for a hydration bladder. I took it up for a scouting trip last saturday for the first time and overpacked it to see how it felt with around 30lbs and it was great. already loving this pack.

Glad you are liking it. I packed 2 loads a total of almost 110 pounds about a mile each trip with my bear this year already. Having a great fitting strong pack really makes a ton of difference! I have pulled out of a lot of my big plans for this year trying to save some frog skins. I am sure I will still be able to pack atleast 8-12 more animals with mine this year.

Just an update, I placed my order with Wilderness Pack Specialties yesterday and ordered the Compact Frame Combo Pack. Very excited to get it! Thanks Carp for the suggestion!

Just came across this thread. This was the exact pack I was going to recommend for your wife. Good choice.
