In that unit if I stood on one road and walked three ridges over I am confident I would stand in another road.  Not saying an open road, but a track for wheelers or motorcycles.  Good luck.  Shoot a fat one.

I agree, get away from the roads.  I had a tag there for a cow a couple of years ago.  I watched numerous vehicle driving around slowly on the outsides of canyons and tree pockets.  I got off my horse, let it with a buddy and hiked down into the draws and got in the trees.  Within an hour I had got on a small herd and took my cow out of it.

Not sure if these guysa are talking about  the Umtanem unit we used to hunt.  If it's the same one, and hasn't changed there isn't anyplace far off a road, expect company, and don't be suprised to shoot your elk with it's tongue hanging out !

:yeah: I don't think I ever walk more than a mile and I hit another road.
