white river archery
« on: June 13, 2012, 06:04:30 PM »
I drew the tag finally!!  :IBCOOL:
So freaking excited. I know you guys get this every year...
but got any advice on the unit? I plan on scouting my butt off!
I really only know 72 road.. and I will not be purchasing a Hancock permit. (I got drawn for any season deer too so kinda broke and have a mad girlfriend.):  :chuckle:
if anybody has any advice please share I would be more then grateful. Never been lucky enough to harvest an elk bit put alot of hard hours in.
Hopefully its finally my year!!

Good luck on your hunt!
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

Cool sounds good. Thanks! I plan on getting a gmu map and marking off all the areas I've been told. Might need a couple more cameras :)

73 road and there's a few off shoots from there with trails at the crest that you can run down with some medows.  Check out Google Earth then take a ride up there.

I had a goat tag in '96. We hunted up around Corral Pass- Castle Mt and saw/called in some really nice bulls...it was a little later in the season though, towards Oct......dont know the elk unit boundaries either...Might be a place to checkout.... :dunno:

I've seen a couple big clearcuts down below. Is that how it is all the way up? Or is it mostly thick timber?
