CRAZY Times for Elk???
« on: September 16, 2008, 10:38:02 AM »
Hunted west of the Taneum with Gobble and his young Jake this last week.  Crazy times this season.  We saw or heard no less then 15 - 20 Big Bulls screaming their full heads off and not a Cow or spike to be found.  Had Bulls right in Camp a couple nights.  They were lusting for our horses  We saw very few hunters and no one with a Bill Bull tag.  We hiked our living butts off and wore out the horses covering ground.  Gooble is "Assless" and his son had a real wilderness experience.  LOL.  Was a great time to be alive and in the woods.

On the way out saw 20 - 30 cows down low in the safety zone and on private land.

I guess the state has achieved it's goal and then some.  What's up with that?  There are Bulls everywhere and no cows to breed.  I think could back fire in the future.  I guess that why my horses looked good to them horny bulls.

That was crazy  :P  Saw way too many Big bulls and very few cows (way off in the distance) and no spikes. It would take alot to make me assless One can only hope  :chuckle:. That was definaetly the primer for me to get in better shape for rifle deer. I went out running with the daughter last night to keep the trend going  ouch!  I can still hike pretty good for a fat guy  :)  There was a 6 x 6 that was eyeballin the horses pretty hard, I guess well have a epidemic of gay elk in a few years if the cow numbers don't pick up  :chuckle:

I don't understand why they don't issue more bull permits for some of those units. Lots of bulls are just dying of old age.   :bash:

bulls dying of old age isnt such a bad thing, id rather have a crack at a trophy bull once every 10 years than like it was before bull hunting on the eastside was spike only and the bull to cow ratio was like 5-100, you couldnt find a bull in those days to save your life
