Sealing Truck Canopy?
« on: August 04, 2013, 09:16:29 AM »
Anyone have any tricks for seating/sealing a standard Brahma canopy? Been using the canopy tape from the hardware store, and it doesn't seem to seal up well enough to keep water out very well. Been running 4 clamps- seems like more clamps might help with the seal- anyone tried? Thanks for the ideas!

I used a rubber bulb shaped gasket meant for sealing the tailgate to th bed, or the back window.  It had adhesive on the flat side, which I stuck to the bottom of the canopy.  It worked great. I got the rubber gasket at the canopy store in Bremerton

Are you sure it's from the sides (leaking past the tape)? Mine was leaking from the front bed seams even though the bed is rhino-lined, a little black silicone and no more leaks.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

I can see it coming in around the bed/canopy rim. But, I think I'm getting some by the bed seams too. Good idea, thanks!

Mine was actually running down the bed rails and getting stuff near the tailgate wet, looked like it was leaking past the rails themselves but a garden hose showed otherwise.

3m butel strips , it's sticky crap and will seal it . you can get it off better than silicone though.

I used three strips of foam tape all the way around the bed before I put my canopy on. I still get a little water that comes in from the tailgate sides though. How hard is it really to have a tailgate that does not allow water in the back of the truck?
