broken window in camper, not sure what to use to fix.
« on: August 09, 2013, 04:07:54 AM »
my new hunting trailer came with 2 broken windows, these are horizontal sliders and are pretty good size. my original thought when I bought it was spend a few bucks for some plexi, seal it in and call it good.

then I saw the price of plexi... it would cost me 100$ to do it in plexi, twice that in lexan. but the local home depot has glass sheets sitting there for about 15$, im worried if I use that glass itll just break going down the road, or  if a branch hits it, itll break right out. I think it is made for replacement glass of home windows, but it might be for craft use, didnt look that hard.

my next thought was go to a glass place and have them cut me some sort of tempered or safety glass, but havent looked into that yet.

What would you guys use? im not trying to spend alot, but I need to get the plywood thats installed right now replaced with something a little less hokey to keep the girl happy

You can always try looking for a R.V salvage yard

If it's already tempered, you can't cut it.  You can go to a glass store and have them cut a piece to size, and then have them temper it.  But, probably will cost about the same as your plexi or lexan DIY fix.
