Welcome to the site! I'm personally not familiar with that area, but I'm sure there are plenty of people on here willing to lead you down the right path. Good luck!

Howdy, just for clarification which tag did you draw? Late Archery, ML, Modern, sling shot, Harpoon, or Bare hand with a big knife? Hahaha  :chuckle:  Welcome to the site  :)

My bad I should have been more specific. I was lucky enough to draw Pearrygin late rifle Nov 1-20. I haven't hunted there yet, but I was already planning to hunt there during general season with a friend. My Dad's hunted over that way a little in the past as well. I still plan to hunt there general season, but mostly to scout the areas ans be a packer.

Keep in good graces with your dad and he will show you where to hunt. You already know the special hunt routine

Mulie(any buck). I've been told by my friend that I really should spend my time in the general season learning some areas and not worry too much about seeing animals yet. I have a few leads to go on for the where part. I'm more excited for deer season this year than I have been in years

Thanks good luck to you as well. Deciding what to shoot is one of the things I'm looking for advice on. I've been hunting coastal Wa for 30 years so I'm sure everything will look big. We've scored some nice black tails over the years (my biggest was 18" between the forks 3point that went about 215 pounds) but I've never hunted Mule Deer. My Dad has a few times so he'll be offering some assistance.

Now that's how you join a forum and get advice. Unlike 95% of the other first time posters looking for hunting spots after drawing a tag they know nothing about. Well done and welcome here.

Thanks, I really don't think you can expect hunters to tell you their spot. I would appreciate any advice people may have on good maps, are mountain bikes of any use in this area? Any ATV access? What should be considered a "shooter" for this area and time of year.

It depends on what kind of a muledeer hunter you are, and what you would like for a trophy.   Would the average 160 class buck fit your needs or are you after something greater.  You can either be lucky as heck or know what you are doing and come up with a booner class animal, or you can find a fine mature class buck.   A majority of the hunters scrutinizing these forums for info from people generally all end up in the same place to hunt.   Explore during the general and find a place of your own and have it all to yourself.   Its a big area with lots of potential.
