Are the birds talking yet?
« on: March 20, 2014, 08:26:13 PM »
Hey guys, this is Mark's wife. I 'hacked' into his account because I'm way excited to start chasing the thunder chickens again this year! Has anyone heard any gobbling yet this spring?
To me its about the future

They gobble year-round. The big winter flocks are still together but are starting to show signs of the spring "rut". I have a video of 26 toms in one group fighting and now the hens are fighting every afternoon. Won't be long before they split into smaller breeding flocks. Here is a pic of a couple toms fighting. The seem to try and swallow the other guys head! Check out the pic.

The flocks are broke up and the toms have their hens to breed. Breeding is in full swing now.
