Camping for Copalis hunt
« on: April 17, 2014, 01:57:33 PM »
I drew the Copalis spring bear permit. I am looking for advise as it relates to camping in the area. I know I can camp on the Rayonier timber land. I have a 15 foot camper that I can bring down there for the hunt. I am wondering if guys that have hunted that area in the past would recommend camping in that area and if so if I could get some advise on spots or if people would camp near by at a state park or campground?

Kind of a tough one.  You could camp on USFS land up the Donkey creek road.  Or use one of the camping areas along the coast.  There are several KOA type camping areas that are a short drive from where you will be hunting.  There is a little State land but, I wouldn't leave my vehicle there for any amount a time.  The area has an over population of tweekers and other human scum.

We drew that tag a few years ago and just camped out of the canopy of my truck. You can camp on their land but I don't know if I would trust leaving your camper out there. We found a lot of sign around the Promised Land and also to the north near the Quinalt line. We didn't get to hunt the south too much. Went without but it's always fun to hunt.

Promised Land  Campground would probably be the most convienient as well as secure. I'm not sure what the access points are for that unit, but I think it's probably the best location.
