Man, what a bust.
« on: September 07, 2014, 08:35:48 AM »
After over 10k pic on the the cams in Aug alone, the animals once again pack up and move out on us again  :bash: :bash: :bash:

Check the cams on Sunday after noon after a fix of my drive line that fell off on me sat, the cams had pic up to Sat and that was it. spent 8+ hours in the tree stand on a well used area and never had a elk come through. froze my a$$ off about every day up at 6000+ elevation, got soaked with rain and well you know  :cryriver:

Came home Saturday after 3 elk were killed by 11 guys in camp, have to fix my hunting rig.broke the exhaust manifold pipe when I was in a hurry to get to my stand area on a 4x4 trail, slid in a rut, and the cat landed on a huge rock sticking up. Broke the exhaust pipe right below the manifold and we were tired of sniffing the fumes. it was making my son sick in the back seat of the truck, I'm going to fix it today and be ready to be back at camp on Thursday.

I did have 4 does cross under my stand on Friday, they were the only heart beats I saw in my stand  :bash:

Sorry for the bad luck. It seems bulls do tend to change their pattern once the rut kicks in. Were you getting many cows on your trail cams or was it mostly bulls?

majority were cows and spikes on the cams and about 6 different bulls.

We did see more people hunting near our spot, but not enough pressure to chase the elk away. We were always the first ones i the area and the last ones to leave.

Two guys came by RePete on Wed with climbing tree stands on Wed, but headed back down the trail when they saw him. Thursday I had an older couple walk up on my stand later in the am but they turned around also once they saw me and stand all ready set up and hunting.

there is a old 4x4 trail leading to the area we hunt and had some jack a$$ drive his jeep in to the middle of the meadow Friday after noon. Needless to say, Im not one to keep my mouth shut so I walked out and confronted him about it.
If he would have just said, sorry, I didnt know someone was hunting here and left, it would have been all good but NO, he looked at me said, " I have been hunting here since the 80's and have never seen elk up here". Well that was the wrong reply, and it was explained to him if he got off his butt and out of thejeep that you can hear a half mile away, he might see some elk....................... then a few other words were spoken, and he turned around and got the hell out of there  :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

Stupid people just pisssssssss me off  :violent1:

Keep at it.  Those elk didnt go too far.  I would come down a few feet and try a different spot.  Good luck.
