My peaches season might be over
« on: September 09, 2014, 08:44:33 PM »
So the first week of season was great. We packed into the wilderness and had some very close calls then Sunday my partner killed a rag horn. I stayed and boned it out while he hiked out and went after the horses. When he brought the horses back to camp I was leading one to feed when a bird flew out of a bush and and the horse jumped sideways landing on my foot. I now have a broken pinky toe and the two next to it are fractured. Needless to say I won't be hiking back in so I will try to find one with in a mile of the road. Even with all that we had a great hunt this year and I am looking forward to drawing again.

Ok at calling and I might make two miles if I took my walking sticks and took some breaks.

Broken is clear through the bone, fractured is cracked.

Years ago I was in a cast from a broken ankle and I slipped a Sorel boot with the insole taken out so I could deer hunt that year.

You should be able to find a bull walking down some of the old blocked off roads while calling.  I had a couple of spots I was going to do that with but didn't need to.  If interested send me a pm.

Do you own the horse(s)?  I assume dealing with stock can be a lot of work but ride one of them hay munchers up some a closed road and hunt from there???

back when I was really little my old man tore a bunch of ligaments in his ankle a few weeks before his goat tag opened. He ended up buying boots big enough to put over the splint and shot his goat. It can be done but won't be fun that is for sure. Sucks to hear!

Ouch! I bet that hurt! So what's the difference between a broken toe and a fractured toe?

I'm an x-ray tech and I get that question a lot. There is technically no difference between a fracture and a break. They can be interchanged however a fracture would be more 'medically accurate' with different classifications of fractures...complete (what some consider a break), spiral (what it sounds like), avulsion (usually when a tendon pulls away part of the bone, comminuted (multiple pieces), greenstick (a bending of the bone usually seen in peds) and my fav, compound (you can see bone!). Anyway, it's all fun.
rather be hunting a blacktail
